My oldest child has decided that she would also like to start writing short stories. She is still learning about the structure of stories, as well as what needs to be included to make a good story (much like myself! lol) Please be kind as this is a constant work in progress overall for her. I am just transcribing all of her short stories and they will be labeled noting that they are her's. Please remember, she is only 11 and this is just the beginning.
Uh-Oh
No one had ever (successfully) snuck into the school but Justin and Megan (lots of people call them the cutest couple in middle school) planned to be the first. They met in the park just two short blocks away from the school that night.
"I can't believe that we will be the first students to see in the teacher's lounge!" squealed Megan. "I know! Right?" Replied Justin as they walked hand in hand down the street, watching for passing cars that could ruin their plans.
They arrived at the school and, thanks to Justin's computer hacker father, Justin quickly started to connect and strip wires using tools "borrowed" from home. After only a quick 3 minutes Megan let out a hushed whisper "Can you hurry up? I'm getting bored!" which quickly got a not-so-kind glare from Justin. Just as they both locked eyes, they heard a simple, but quiet "click" as the door unlocked.
Over the next 3 hours, the couple checked each and every room in the school for contraband that teachers seemed to help themselves too. After thoroughly ransacking each teacher's desk, together they made the decision that the time had come to walk to that most sacred of places... The teacher's lounge.
As the door slowly swung open, the moonlight shone through the simple windows on either side of the room. The walls were plastered with posters! While the moon was giving light to the room, it wasn't enough light to see what the posters were of and what the teachers were hiding. So, even with the fear of being caught rising in their throats, the couple dared to turn on the light.
Megan reached for the switch and as her eyes began adjusting to the change in light a harsh cough came from Justin."Oh, My, Goodness" he stated as his face paled.
"Never in my life would I have ever thought that THIS is what the teachers are hiding from us! It is clear as day why we are not allowed in here!" Justin started to ramble. Megan turned and took in the sight of hundreds of posters of various sizes covering the two walls that the windows didn't allow you to see from outside. One wall was plastered with Justin Beiber posters and concert memorabilia and the other was covered with One Direction and all that they had done.
"While I am completely freaked out about all these posters and that the teachers like these people so very much, this is the only room in the school with anywhere soft to sit," Megan said as she walked her way over to the oversized, overstuffed, multicolored couch that sat facing the windows. "And MAN! I am tired! All these rooms in this school, so much stuff taken from kids. We need to play Robin Hood tomorrow and get it all back to everyone"
"Yeah, but for now, let's just take a little nap and rest before we need to get out of here before we get caught" Justin sat down next to Megan and wrapped her in his arms as he tipped them both back on the sofa. He quickly pulled out his phone and set an alarm for 4am to make sure they had time to get out of the building.
As they both drifted into sleep, they both smiled because they knew that they would be the talk of the school of this stunt, and getting people's stuff back would help make it all worth it. As Justin turned to his side to wrap his arms around Megan, his phone with the alarm slid in between the cushions un-noticed.
"WELL! I think we need to call some parents, as well as write up some detention slips! Be glad we are stopping with that instead of calling the police!" Mrs. Nacy the principal yelled and shook the couch to wake Megan and Justin. Startled, they both shot up to standing and remembered where they were. It was going to be a long day because of this.
As they both sat down in detention that day they reflected on this little trip of theirs. "Well, we may have gotten detention together," Megan started to say, "But we are definetly the talk of the school now!" Finished Justin.
Short stories written by 3 members of the same family, showcasing how people raised close, can still have such vastly different takes on the same prompts
